One day closer to home...

Every day gets better... They are removing tubes and wires one by one in order to allow Eric to come home tomorrow. If all goes well, it is still the discharge plan.

Eric's will (that we all know and love) is returning. He wants to do more himself which is great. I know that the bed at home doesn't do what this bed does here so it's a whole new ball game when we get home. A long recovery is ahead of Eric but being at home and living as a family again will be the best medicine.

We don't know yet the next steps for Eric as far as post surgery. The pathology reports will be back next week and then we'll go from there. We just praise God for the fact that they feel they got the cancer out and that it had not spread to any other place in the body.

Many have told us that we need to take one day at a time and that was the best advice we could get. It is best to take a day at a time or it just seems overwhelming. When we think about the fact that just 2 and a half weeks ago, the mass was diagnosed, it seems impossible that he is already through the surgery and almost home. At times, the 2 weeks feels like a few months but we know that God's hand has gotten us to where we are today. What a peace and blessing to know that our heavenly Father directs the moments, minutes, hours and days of our lives.

Peace and love to all of you... Eric and Gwen

Eric,
We are so glad to hear that you are recovering from your surgery and will be home soon! You and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers for some time now. I know from experience what a emotional toll something like this can take on a family, but it makes your family ties stronger and your appreciation and love for each other even greater.
Keep up the good work and take care of yourself and get stronger with each day. Thank your wife for her updates to keep all of us informed of your progress. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Eric, Gwen, Emily, and Adam-
You are right about the two weeks seeming like so long ago. Take one day at a time and gather your strength. Keep getting stronger each day, physically, mentally and spiritually. Your family is in my prayers. Take care of each other.

I remember hearing at some conference when you don't know what else to do, you do the next thing. Sometimes, that's as far as we can look ahead. Peace to you all!
