It will be 6 weeks this Tuesday since the day of surgery. Eric continues to gain his stength and is healing well from the surgery. He is getting out of the house more often and is gaining some of his weight back again. It is still hard to comprehend what has happened the past 8 weeks and each day we look to God's love and faithfulness striving to overcome this set back in our lives.
Tomorrow, Eric and I will celebrate our 18th year of marriage. It was sweetest day 18 years ago and a beautiful fall day matching the several days we have had this past week. We're going to leave town for a day or so and just look for some time away from the house. The walls are closing in and we love the season of fall so we are going to head a little bit north and see what we can find. It has become a tradition for us to find a place to go and hike and enjoy our favorite season. We won't be hiking as much this year but the time away will be special together.
This coming Friday, October 24th, we are going to Cleveland Clinic again. This trip is to sign all of the papers for the clinical study. Eric will also have scans and tests done to begin the process. They will then register him for the study and when that is complete, we will go back and get the medications to start the treatments. It feels good to be taking another step. I think that Eric is anxious to get started and also anxious about how the treatments will affect him. However, moving forward into this study feels like the right thing to do. So, we have a big week ahead of us.
Please continue to pray for complete healing and for strength emotionally to continue on this journey. The fear and reality of all this is overwhelming at times. We praise God for the love of support of friends and family. God's blessings to all of you and we'll keep in touch. Eric and Gwen

First I want to say "Happy Anniversary" to you both. Congratulations on 18 years together! Eric, I spoke with your brother Scott today and asked him about you. Glad to hear that you are on your road to recovery. And Rabes told me that he saw you last week in Stryker (on his way to the golf course....go figure right??!) We think of you so often and keep you in our prayers. Good luck when you make your way to Cleveland this week. You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself.
Jodi and Rabes
