We Give Thanks... as we wait

Hello Friends and Family: We have come to the week of Thanksgiving and we remember the many blessings in our lives for which we give thanks. We have learned that our blessings are not in what we can hold and touch with our hands The blessings that we are most thankful for this year are the blessings that we hold in our hearts and souls. The blessings of life itself and the joys that it has in store for us each and every day. Todd and Sabrina are looking back to a year ago and remembering the precious time of their journey with Chelsey. It was a holiday season that they will remember forever. We ask that you remember them in your prayers this holiday season as they take one day at a time to celebrate this holiday season with memories of Chelsey and Sabrina's mom, Shirley. Emily looked through old e-mails the other day and found an e-mail from Chelsey. She was just checking on Emily and told her that she couldn't wait for Christmas because she had a special gift for her. Emily received her heart necklace on Christmas Eve last year and she wears it every day. And, as we journey through this holiday season, we are decorating and preparing for Christmas with the hope that we have in the Christ Child. We are so grateful for the many prayers that continue to carry us through each day. A day doesn't pass by when we aren't reminded of the many prayers being sent to heaven for Eric and our family. For that, we give thanks.

Friday was the 4th week since the scan was done in October. It was the half way point in time before we return to Cleveland for the follow up scan to determine if the cancer growth will warrant treatments or not. We pray that the scan shows no changes or better yet that what they saw in October is no longer there. Waiting is difficult. At times, the scan can't get here soon enough but at other times, we'd rather the day never come and that this is all just a bad dream. Sabrina reminded me last week that to make it through this time, we are allowed to laugh at something stupid, we can smile because we have Eric and we should never forget that someone has to be a number in the good statistics. That is the attitude we will take for the long haul as we have our good days and we have our bad days. I told her that I couldn't have found a therapist with better advice than that.

Eric is back to work. Last week he worked full-time and for the two weeks prior to that, he worked half days. He is finally gaining some weight back and he is looking healthy again. His energy level is getting better all the time. It's good to have some "normal" back in our home again. Mitzi, our dog is a little confused by all of it since she is alone all day in her cage after so much freedom the past 3 months. Eric and Adam spend a lot of "guy time" together. Adam is so much like Eric in so many ways. He loves being with his Dad and looks for every waking minute that he can spend with him.

The last of the fall leaves were raked yesterday and the Christmas decorations are going up. The busyness of the season will occupy our lives for the next four weeks and we will celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas remembering that God's love will carry us through whatever news we get on December 19th. Thanks for prayers, e-mails, cards, hugs and words of encouragement that we receive daily. We love you all and wish you a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Eric, Gwen, Emily and Adam

It was so good read your latest blog post. We are so glad to hear that Eric is getting back to a normal routine and is feeling good. Your words were very true and uplifting. We think of Eric often and are glad to hear that things are going better. We hope you and your family have a very blessed Thanksgiving and holiday season.
Thinking of you,
Jodi and Rabes

My love and prayers continue daily! Romans 12:12 is still taped to my computer. Being joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer mean something entirely new to me now. And with you, I am striving to be joyful, patient and faithful in all things! Peace to you, my friends!
