First cycle of treatments almost done...

Another part of Eric's journey is almost complete.  Tonight he will take his 27th dose of his 28 doses of Sutent and on Friday will go to Cleveland for his 3rd infusion of Avastin.  Then 14 days of no treatments are definitely something to look forward to.  The side effects have definitely taken a toll but I have to say with admiration that Eric has faced this with courage and strength.  He has continued to go to work and his attitude has been an inspiration to many.  When he sits down to eat a meal with us he always says that it looks and smells like it tastes really good.  However, most everything taste the same (like metal).  The fatigue has been tough at times but again, he has overcome.  Eric claims to be "tougher than this" and it's that attitude that has helped him through the past month in spite of the reality of the cancer.

We are hopeful that the side effects go away quickly.  We were told at the last appointment in Cleveland that they do all go away for 2 weeks.  Since this is the first break, we are anxious to find out.  The second treatment session will start on May 22nd for 28 more dates.  At the end of this 2nd treatment period, Eric will have the first CT Scan to know how effective the treatments have been.  If it is working the cycle will repeat again so nothing is for sure.

We always come back to the same thought.... one day, one step at a time.  God leads and we follow.  Spring is so beautiful and I marvel at the new life in his creation.  It is such a wonderful reminder daily that HE is present in ALL things...  even in the trials.  Don't you just treasure the joys of each day?  Blessings to all... Eric and Gwen
