We have so much to celebrate

We have so much to celebrate

We are still in Cleveland at the clinic and we wanted to post before we left for home because we know that so many of you care and have been praying today. The last 2 weeks of break have been tough for Eric. He has experienced a lot of pain and actually missed more work during break then he did while he was on therapy. It was disappointing to say the least but again, Eric persevered and was back at work yesterday. Today we are here as scheduled.

We didn't get the news today that we had hoped for however, we did know that this day was coming because this is just the nature of this beast. There has been some progression of the disease. There are no new mets but the mets that we already knew about have grown slightly. What does this mean? It means that the Sutent has stopped working and we knew that would happen. So, he has to move on to the next drug which is Afinitor. It is still an oral drug that he will take every day with no breaks. We've been told that the side effects are different and maybe not as severe as the Sutent side effects. The doctor extended his break for 2 more weeks so he will begin the new treatment in a few weeks. Obviously we are not leaving here happy but we are thankful that there are so many more drugs to move on to and we will put our hope in that and as always in the healing hands of God.

We have planned a mini vacation to Chicago this week and look forward to a few days away from the norm. It sounds like the weather will be nice even in Chicago so we will do our best to enjoy this time with the kids. We again thank all of you for continuing to support us with your prayers, hugs and other acts of love. God always provides the hug, the note in the mail, the phone call of whatever we need when we need it the most.

We wish all of you a Blessed Easter as we celebrate the ultimate act of love. It is because of that act of love that we can live each day with hope. As Eric says daily.... Praise God from whom all blessings flow. With love... Eric and Gwen

Thanks for the updates. My prayers continue with you as you walk thru this valley. Praying also that the next set of treatments will not be as hard on Eric. Have fun in Chicago as you also celebrate the reason Christ came as a babe.
