Thursday - Next steps to recovery

Eric was finally moved to a regular room last evening at 7 p.m. The bed that he was originally assigned to became unavailable and that was frustrating for Eric and those of us waiting to see him. However, he is here with me now and not feeling the best. Any of us that have had surgery know that the pain is unimaginable if you've never been there. Eric's incision is huge and the doctors are trying to manage his pain without making him so groggy. They are trying to convince him that he needs to get out of bed but at this point, his pain is too great. They are still trying to help with that... hopefully soon they'll have the plan that works.

We heard this morning that he could go home Saturday or Sunday. At this point, this seems impossible but hopefully if can get up the first time, he'll be motivated to continue and gain strength. For now, please pray for relief from the pain so that he can continue the recovery process.

Thanks to all who are praying... We know there are many and we enjoy reading the comments that many of you have sent. God's blessings to all and praise to God for His goodness and His faithfulness in all circumstances.

We'll keep in touch... Gwen

Gwen, I "Really" do appreciate you taking the time to update us all on Eric's progress.
I look forward to seeing my best friend home with his family as soon as possible, so tell him to get "busy" recovering!
My love and prayers are with you all.

One foot in front of the other! You can do it! I don't have much room to talk, I was pretty reluctant to get out of bed the first time too.
Our prayers are with you!!

The first time definitely is the hardest, but it will get easier each time you try. Hang in there, Eric. It will get better.

Hi Gwen. Thanks for letting us know how things are going. I know all too well how doctors want you up and moving after a surgery... and how difficult it is. I hope it gets easier for him quickly. Tell him I said Hi.
Take care, Jennifer
