Tough Treatment Days

It has been awhile since I've posted a blog entry so I thought I'd give an update. Eric has 5 pills left in this 28 day cycle. So, he is not feeling his best to say the least. He is still taking the maximum dosage of the Sutent and although he is doing better than many others do on the medicine, it is tough, especially at the end. Eric continues to work full time. He does his best to keep up with me and the kids but can't always find enough energy to do so. The one side effect this month that takes the prize is that he is always so cold and can't seem to get warm. The winter temperatures don't make that any easier to deal with. Otherwise, the physical fatigue is the most common side effect from month to month along with others that make days tough to get through. We're thinking that he may have to try another schedule for this medication because the 28 days of maximum dosage is getting harder each time.

So, he will end this treatment cycle next week just in time for Christmas. It will take a few days to feel better but at least he'll have the 2 weeks over the holiday without taking a pill at bed time. And, hopefully this break he won't get the flu like he did on his last break. He is really looking forward to the break and hopes so much that he'll be able to get out and have some fun.

January 6th is our next trip to Cleveland for tests and the scans. It's the standard 3 month appointment.

Today, we remember Chelsey on the 2 year anniversary of her death and we think of Todd, Sabrina and Christian with our love.

We wish all of our family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. We are thankful that we can celebrate another Christmas together. It's not always easy but we are blessed in so many ways. The blessings are in the little things every day. May we all experience the peace of the Christ Child. I heard a song this morning that talked about a king being born in a dirty manger and yet that is where God chose for his son to be born. We let Christ into our hearts when they are like that dirty manger and he fills it with his peace. I guess I had never thought of it that way before. His peace is there for all of us to accept in our hearts. May this be the peace of your Christmas.

I'll post again in January after the appointment. Until then... Eric and Gwen
